Princeton suspends men's swim team over vulgar messages

New Jersey's Princeton University has suspended its men's swim team over offensive content on a team message service, marking the third such action against an Ivy League athletic squad since November. The decision by Athletic Director Mollie Marcoux Samaan and coach Rob Orr came after a complaint this week about material on the team's listserv message application, the New Jersey giay tay school said in a statement late on Thursday.

Messier ready for Jagr to take over second on all-time list

Mark Messier gave no quarter during his Hall of Fame National Hockey League career, but he said on Thursday that he is ready to happily surrender second place on the all-time scoring list to Jaromir Jagr. With Jagr sitting on 1,884 points and just four away from moving into the number two slot behind the 'Great One' Wayne Gretzky, Messier is surprised he was able to hold onto the spot for so long.

Bennett hurts neck to further deplete Seahawks defense

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett exited Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Rams during the fourth quarter because of a neck injury, coach Pete Carroll said. Bennett, playing in his third game back from a knee injury, suffered the injury when he stopped Rams running back Todd Gurley for a loss with a big hit.

Warriors defeat Knicks with teamwork

The Golden State Warriors passed circles around the New York Knicks on Thursday night, assisting on their first 36 baskets over 35 minutes in a 103-90 victory over the undermanned Eastern Conference squad. Klay Thompson had a game-high 25 points and JaVale McGee dropped in 17 in a rare start, helping Golden State improve to 7-0 against Eastern teams this season with a fifth straight win over the Knicks.

Seahawks clinch NFC West as Rams fall again

The Los Angeles Rams may have changed head coaches, but Thursday night's result was all too familiar. Interim coach John Fassel was on the sideline for the first time, three days after the Rams fired previous head coach Jeff Fisher after four-plus seasons. Fassel's team, though, couldn't muster enough offense to challenge the Seattle Seahawks, who clinched the NFC West for the third time in four years with a 24-3 victory at CenturyLink Field.
