Bolt holds on to win 100 meters at final Golden Spike
Usain Bolt overcame a slow start to win the 100 meters at the Ostrava Golden Spike meeting on Wednesday as he gears up for a final world championships in London this summer. In his second 100m outing of his final season, the Jamaican was slow out of the blocks but jumped ahead before the halfway point to finish in a time of 10.06 seconds, just edging Yunier Perez of Cuba, who ran a personal best 10.09 seconds.

Horse racing - Payne suspended for a month for failed dope test
Michelle Payne, the first woman jockey to ride a Melbourne Cup winner, has been suspended from racing for a month after testing positive for a banned appetite suppressant. Payne tested positive for Phentermine after submitting a urine sample at a regional meeting in Swan Hill in Australia's southern state of Victoria on June 11.
Jackson and struggling Knicks agree to part ways
Phil Jackson's turbulent three-year stint as team president of the New York Knicks ended on Wednesday with the 71-year-old having failed to revive the once-proud club. Jackson, already a Hall of Fame member after winning a record 11 NBA titles as coach of the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers, was touted as a savior but never came close to delivering the Knicks their first championship since 1973.
Back from exile, Laver led Wimbledon into brave new world
Few subjects animate tennis aficionados quite like the "greatest of all time" debate, but there is a consensus that Rod Laver's 1969 calendar year grand slam remains a yardstick for the modern game. But for a quiet revolution that took place on the Wimbledon turf two years previously, however, Laver's feat would be absent from the record books and tennis may never have flourished into the global spectacle it is today.
