If you place five magicians in a room you'll probably get ten notions--at a minimum!--as to how magick works. What follows is only one notion. Is it the "correct" one? You'll need to ascertain that for yourself.
To clarify this one start off with a grotesque description. Envision someone cut your arm off. Would you still be you? Yes, obviously. How about if one cut off both legs and your arms. What if one cut off part of your brain so you could live? Magick Works: Creating Magic Talisman

Yes, it's kind of gross, but the point is that you are more than your physical body and brain. What, then, makes you you,? Something else. But where's that something else? It's clearly not physical. Therefore, where that something exists must also be found in a non-actual place.

You have likely learned of having an astral body. The matter is, you (and everyone else and everything) don't have an astral body because you have a physical body. Rather, you develop a physical body because you've got an astral body. Things that exist on the astral plane must show on the physical plane. So, if you create something on the astral plane, it must manifest on the physical plane. Somehow, the essence of what is you is created on the astral plane (how that happens is another discussion) and must become physical. For the discussion here, the question we must ask is, "How can we create something on the astral plane?" If we can accomplish that, we can make our desires and goals come to pass. One way to access the astral plane is through visualization. I have already written about visualization at the end of this preceding place, and I'd encourage you to read it. However, for our purposes here, it may be best to say the conscious mind fundamentally works with the physical world and the subconscious mind basically works with the astral world.
