The Indians activated slugger Edwin Encarnacion from the 10-day disabled list, and he homered in the first and fifth innings of Cleveland's Wednesday night road game against the Boston buy pbn backlinks cheap Red Sox.
Encarnacion returned from injuries to his left biceps and right hand. In the first inning Wednesday, he hit a two-run shot with two outs against Red Sox left-hander Brian Johnson, and he added another two-run homer with two outs in the fifth against right-hander Heath Hembree.
In a corresponding move, the Indians placed outfielder Rajai Davis on the DL due to what the team termed a "non-baseball medical condition." Davis, 37, is batting .246 with 16 stolen bases in 81 games.
Through the seventh inning Wednesday, Encarnacion was batting .233 with 27 homers and 85 RBIs in 105 games. He is looking for his seventh consecutive 30-homer campaign.
The 35-year-old departed a game against the Chicago White Sox on Aug. 10 due to biceps pain. He had been struggling with a bruised right hand over previous weeks prior to the biceps injury.
