I purchased my tube of Garnier Fructis Sculpting Gel at my local Wal-Mart store but most drug stores will carry their popular line of products. The average price of the sculpting gel is between $3 and $6. For this inexpensive price, the amount you get in the five ounce tube is worth it.

The height of the body was determined using the arm length and the results corresponded with the height of Talsma. Betty Pat Gatliff was called in to assist Snow with the unidentified skulls. Modeling clay was used to portray skin to create a feel for the shape of the mouth and cheeks. Prosthetic eyes were inserted and appropriate colored wigs were used on the skulls that were found with hair. (It is difficult to reconstruct the nose because cartilage decomposes rapidly, leaving a gaping hole where the nose should be). The reconstructed faces were released to the media. They did not prove to be as helpful as hoped, but the results of a similar procedure were more desirable in other cases. Anyhow, Snow was still successful in positively identifying the skeleton of David Talsma.

The cycle of hair growth has a number of phases. The Anagen phase is one where the hair is actively growing and replacing old hairs. The next phase is called the Catagen phase where about the length of the hair shorten as the shafts undergo regression. The last phase is the Telogen phase. During this phase, the hair goes into a period of resting. There is the normal shedding of hair, about a 100 strands or less each day. The body sends a signal to the follicles for the cycle to start again. Sometimes this signal is not sent and the hair stays in the telogen phase longer than is normal. The process of shedding does not stop, and soon a lot of hair is lost.
