When you start the engine it should crank over, fire, and find a smooth and steady idle easily. Any hesitations, backfires or irregular idling are a sign of engine problems. Not all engine problems are serious and many can be simple such as a vacuum leak. Still it would be preferable to find a car with a great sounding and looking engine.

And, isn't it funny when you think everything is going as smooth as can be that some things seem to just turn around and kick you in the butt. Well, that's exactly what happened. Just as I had finished dressing number two son, number one son tugged at my arm and told me that he had to go to the bathroom. Funny, I thought I had asked both my sons if they had to go to the bathroom before we started this dressing thing. Great! Off comes the caps players, mitts, coat, boots, snow pants and off we go to the bathroom. Oh well, just a short wait, right? Wrong. Why is it that a short walk to the bathroom results in a fifteen minute exercise? I mean, if you have to go, you have to go right away, right?

It's no surprise that Kasey Kahne held on to his Wild Card spot with two wins, but the shocker in Richmond was the call by Kyle Busch's crew chief Dave Rogers to stay out when other leaders pitted for fresh tires. Rogers felt that more rain was coming and NASCAR would soon call the race. Instead leaders including Jeff Gordon rocketed past Busch's No. 18 relegating him to a 16th place finish. Gordon nabbed second place to take the final Wild Card spot from Busch by three points-just three positions on the Richmond track.
