Wear heavy boots. No tennis shoes or sandals! Boots will protect your feet better and you will have a better stance while cutting. Any other shoe is too light weight and you could slip causing you to redirect the running chain saw onto a leg or foot. This is going to ruin your day and cost a lot more than high heating in winter time.
If you do wear glasses, only a cat like this would be seen with shades. Stick with the bluejeans, but you'll be cooler than those other preps, because you'll be wearing either a white t-shirt, with a pack of cigs rolled up in your sleeve of choice, or the classic black leather jacket.
If you've got a knack for the more daring, take the above concept and make a few modifications. Substitute a sweater for a buttoned up blouse, but leave a few top buttons loose. For real authenticity, try out the bouffant hairstyle, and watch as the guys line up to show you there, um, hot rods.
Pack comfortable clothes that are appropriate to the weather of the place that you are going to. Be sure to have your The Hats Guide, sunglasses and sun cream lotion. Don't forget to pack one jacket and long pants for each member of the family for them to wear in a cold night.
Cover your head to keep cool in the sun. Hats, scarfs and even a newspaper keeps the rays off your head and your body cooler. Umbrellas can be a nice choice as well.
Don't use an overabundance of flowers as table centerpieces for your reception. The majority of the times, the flowers just get in the way. Additionally, many people are allergic to flowers. One classy alternative to flowers is unscented candles.
There's a reason why so many Aussies wear sun hats: Australia has the highest skin cancer rate on the globe. Slip on a long sleeved shirt and wide brimmed hat, be generous with sunscreen, and try to stay in the shade during the hottest part of the day.
For those venturing out to dance in the winter (I know for you East Coast people you might laugh at this), but it is cold and a nice coat or matching set of scarves, gloves and hat wouldn't hurt. Ian just got a wool hat with matching scarf from Landsend. I'm customizing with a few buttons. I'm adding appliques to mine. These can easily fit inside a pocket folded up or in the dance shoe bag.
